Behavior Is Communication: Understanding Trauma in the Classroom REPEAT
Monday February 16, 2026 9:50am - 10:50am CST
This course will help us shift from just seeing behaviors in the classroom to understanding the nervous system for our students and for ourselves. We will define the term “trauma,” articulate the prevalence and nature of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), describe the stress response system and how the brain responds to stress or a potential threat. Then we will spend much of our time focusing on awareness and application of the 4 Pillars of Applied Educational Neuroscience and other Co-Regulation practices from The Regulated Classroom.

Monday February 16, 2026 9:50am - 10:50am CST
This session introduces ClassBank, a highly successful classroom management and PBIS-approved classroom economy system that can be implemented in a single classroom or scaled school-wide. ClassBank teaches students ownership, responsibility, and real-world financial skills through jobs, paychecks, rent, utilities, fines, bonuses, and a classroom store. Students work toward both short-term incentives (flex seating, classroom privileges, small rewards) and long-term goals (high-value rewards such as gift cards), helping them understand saving, budgeting, and delayed gratification. Attendees will learn how ClassBank promotes positive behavior, accountability, leadership through student supervisors, and provides powerful data tracking to support behavior management decisions.

Constant Natural Freedom of Movement: Data-Driven Strategies to Embed Active Learning Throughout the School Day
Monday February 16, 2026 1:30pm - 2:30pm CST
Active learning is one of the most powerful tools educators have to boost cognition, improve attention, and support whole-child development. Research consistently shows that when students move, they think more clearly, stay engaged longer, and perform better academically. This presentation draws on findings from a grounded-theory research study that led to the development of the Theory of Constant Natural Freedom of Movement—a framework describing how physical activity must occur as a constant, natural, and embedded element of the school day to truly impact learning.
Participants will explore data-driven strategies to create learning environments where physical activity arises naturally and continuously—not as an interruption to learning, but as an enhancer of it. These examples span general education classrooms, physical education settings, and cross-disciplinary contexts, illustrating how purposeful movement strengthens engagement, supports inclusion, and elevates academic and social outcomes.
Attendees will leave with practical, ready-to-implement approaches that spark constant physical activity opportunities, promote self-regulated movement, and improve overall learning quality. The session will also provide templates and models that educators can adapt to their own classrooms or teacher-preparation programs.

Stress‑Free Productivity: Applying GTD to Manage Workload and Focus on What Matters Most REPEAT
Monday February 16, 2026 1:30pm - 2:30pm CST
This session, based on David Allen’s “Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-free Productivity,” introduces the GTD system as a practical way for K–12 educators to reduce stress and stay focused on what matters most for students. Participants learn to use the five GTD steps—Capture, Clarify, Organize, Reflect, and Engage—with simple tools and weekly habits so “open loops” move into trusted systems instead of being carried mentally, supporting wellbeing and a culture of reliability across the school. The session offers concrete solutions to universal challenges—unfinished tasks, frequent interruptions, and competing priorities—in both elementary and secondary settings.

Use Technology for Those Student Projects: A Roundtable Discussion
Monday February 16, 2026 1:30pm - 2:30pm CST
Let’s brainstorm a list of projects you can use right now with the technology your students already have. Join this roundtable discussion to swap ideas and chat about ways to help students be better engaged with your content through technology. Be prepared to share ideas of projects you have used with students in the past (or have seen used with students). You can even plug your computer in and showcase examples and student work. Bring ideas and examples to share - or, if you are new and just getting started - come to listen, network, and grab ideas! Teachers of all grades are welcome but be advised that my current position is working with elementary students. I taught middle school and high school for 25+ years, so I can help with those ideas, too, but all my current examples are from elementary school.

Behavior Is Communication: Understanding Trauma in the Classroom REPEAT
Monday February 16, 2026 2:40pm - 3:40pm CST
This course will help us shift from just seeing behaviors in the classroom to understanding the nervous system for our students and for ourselves. We will define the term “trauma,” articulate the prevalence and nature of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), describe the stress response system and how the brain responds to stress or a potential threat. Then we will spend much of our time focusing on awareness and application of the 4 Pillars of Applied Educational Neuroscience and other Co-Regulation practices from The Regulated Classroom.

Stress‑Free Productivity: Applying GTD to Manage Workload and Focus on What Matters Most REPEAT
Monday February 16, 2026 2:40pm - 3:40pm CST
